Update: Graves Mill Road and Vista Centre Drive have reopened and the scene has been cleared.

There are road closures in place in the area of Graves Mill Road and Vista Centre Drive in Forest due to a gas leak. At this time, we do not know exactly when the roads will reopen.
- Graves Mill Road – closed from Route 221 to Grouse Drive
- Vista Centre Drive – closed from Graves Mill Road to Vista Park Drive
Residents who live in the Lake Vista or Forest Lakes neighborhoods should use Cottontown Road or Gumtree Road to reach their homes.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, at 9:18 a.m., the Bedford 911 Communications Center received a call at from someone reporting the smell of gas in the area of Graves Mill Road and Vista Centre Drive. The Forest Fire Department responded to the scene and determined that an underground propane tank near the Ferguson HVAC building had been struck by a tractor trailer. They started evacuating nearby businesses. In total, seven buildings were evacuated. No injuries were reported.
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is on the scene to assist, as well as the Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue, Lynchburg Fire Department and Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
