Construction is officially underway on a 3,000-square-foot expansion of the Bedford County Animal Shelter. County officials, staff, and other community stakeholders broke ground on the project on May 15, 2025. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Earlier this year, after hearing from many community members eager to support the project, Bedford County established a dedicated donation fund. To date, donations from the community total approximately $115,000.
