A native of Bedford County, Michael W. Miller began his career over three decades ago as a deputy with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office and has continuously served with the department since 1985. He was re-elected to his second term in November 2023.
Sheriff Miller has worked in nearly every aspect of law enforcement and brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and knowledge to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. He was a founding member of the Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer program and has served as a road deputy, school resource officer and the Captain of the Administration Division, supervising the human resources and budgeting aspects of the agency. He most recently served as the Captain of the Operations Division, overseeing field operations, investigations, K9, and Tactical Response Team.
Sheriff Miller aims to provide the highest level of law enforcement to the citizens of Bedford County by recruiting top talent. He also focuses on training and educating current employees in the latest law enforcement tactics. Sheriff Miller has a strong emphasis on relationship building with the community through training and community involvement.
