Our Citizen’s Police Academy is an educational opportunity designed for the citizens of the county. You must be 18 years old or older to participate. Applications and background checks are required.

The Academy is a 12-week course (one night each week) that introduces topics such as the mission and values of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, Crime Prevention, Community Relations, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Safe Surfin’ Foundation, and many other interesting topics.

Once completing the Academy, you have the opportunity to become involved and assist the BCSO by volunteering for traffic control/parking vehicles and collecting statistical data for traffic studies and collecting statistical data.

2024 Citizen's Police Academy

Registration is now open for the 2024 Citizen's Police Academy. Classes will start May 28, 2024, and will primarily be held on Tuesday evenings.
