Prescription Drug Take-Back Events
The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office organizes three events each year to allow residents to safely dispose of any unwanted, unused, or expired medications. This is an effort to prevent prescription drug abuse and keep trace drugs out of our lakes and streams.
At these Prescription Drug Take Back Events, residents can also bring personal documents they want to shred. The Sheriff’s Office uses these events to raise money and donations for the Bedford County Animal Shelter and other charities. Donates of canned/nonperishable food and pet food are encouraged.
2024 events:
- March 23, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Bedford Elementary School
- April 20, 10 a.m. to 1p.m. | Jefferson Forest High School
- May 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Staunton River High School
Collection Container
CVS Pharmacy and The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids are partnering with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office in its Drug Disposal for Safer Communities Program.
CVS Pharmacy is providing, at no charge, a drug collection container to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. The container is located in the outer lobby of the front entrance to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, located at 1345 Falling Creek Road, Bedford. It is accessible to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This gives citizens from the Town of Bedford and Bedford County a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications, including controlled substances.
