Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

Volunteers with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provide support in general non–law enforcement related assignments.

These volunteers are irreplaceable in their dedication and passion for helping not only BCSO, but the community as a whole.

In 2023 RSVP:

  • Worked 3,363 hours
  • Ran 1030 department errands
  • Helped with 28 funeral escorts
  • Handled 285 Project Lifesaver calls
  • Helped with 45 motorist assists, 18 traffic control calls, and 35 locked vehicles
  • Responded to 23 citizen assist calls
  • Conducted 918 school checks
  • Handled an additional 483 miscellaneous calls
  • Drove 36,765 miles in their designated "Volunteer" vehicles

How to Apply

RSVP volunteers typically give their time 1+ days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
